Journalist gives fresh update on Arsenal’s link to Denis Suarez
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth reveals what it might take for Arsenal to sign Denis Suarez on loan from FC Barcelona this month
Arsenal are still working on a deal to sign Denis Suarez but FC Barcelona want to get maximum value for the Spanish midfielder, Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth has explained.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the out-of-favour FC Barcelona midfielder to improve Unai Emery’s options in the middle of the park.
The Spanish head coach worked with Suarez during the 2014-15 season at Sevilla and the 25-year-old was part of Emery’s team that won the Europa League title.
However, the Gunners have ruled out signing new players on permanent deals in the January transfer window, limiting Emery to potential loan moves this month.
Suarez has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal at the Spanish champions and his value will continue to decrease as his contract nears expiration.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth believes FC Barcelona could look to insert a clause that will force Arsenal to sign Suarez on a permanent deal in the summer if the Gunners do bring the midfielder to north London on loan this month.
“They have a situation with Suarez at the moment,” Sheth told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
“Arsenal want to do a loan deal. Barcelona effectively don’t want to sell but know he has only 18 months left on his contract.
“If Barcelona are to let him go, they want to maximise his value. Maybe they can come to a compromise where by Arsenal sign him on loan until the summer and have an obligation to buy in the summer inserted into his contract.”
Arsenal will welcome Chelsea FC to The Emirates on Saturday evening as Emery’s side look to reduce the deficit to three points between the two London rivals.
The Blues were 3-2 winners against Arsenal in the Premier League back in August.
