Arsenal interested in 17-year-old Brazilian winger – report
Arsenal are monitoring Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli ahead of a possible summer move for the Ituano winger, according to a report
Arsenal are one of several clubs interested in Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli, according to a report in Brazil.
Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte, as quoted by the Evening Standard, is reporting that Arsenal are monitoring Martinelli’s situation at Sao Paulo club Ituano.
The same article states that Martinelli is thought to be attracting interest from 25 different clubs in Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, Arsenal boss Unai Emery is a big admirer of the Brazilian winger as the Spanish head coach looks to add more width to his team.
The Evening Standard report adds that the Gunners boss has identified a signing on the wing as a priority in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Martinelli is in the process of securing an Italian passport, which could make a move to a Premier League club such as Arsenal a little smoother.
The Gunners suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon to dent their hopes of a top-four finish.
Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League next season if the north London side can win the Europa League for the first time.
Emery’s side will take on La Liga outfit Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals next week.
