Sky Sports reporter delivers update on Arsenal transfer link to proven 30-year-old
Dharmesh Sheth delivers the latest update on Arsenal and Man City's link to defender Jonny Evans
Arsenal have not followed up their initial enquiries about signing Jonny Evans from West Brom this month, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Gunners have been touted as a possible destination for the 30-year-old centre-half as Arsene Wenger considers bolstering his defensive options at The Emirates.
Evans has also been linked with a potential move to Manchester City this month after he was linked with a move away from West Brom during the summer transfer window.
However, reporter Sheth has now confirmed that neither Arsenal nor Manchester City have followed up their initial enquiries with official bids this month.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, Sheth said: “Neither City nor Arsenal have followed up their enquiries for Evans earlier this month with a bid.
“Evans is valued at around £25m in this window but we are told that he has a relegation clause in his contract – if West Brom go down, Evans can leave for £3m.”
Arsenal have already been busy in the January transfer window, offloading Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Francis Coquelin.
The Gunners snapped up Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a long-term contract as part of the deal which saw Sanchez head to Manchester United last week.
Meanwhile, Wenger’s side are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night.
The Gunners booked their place in the League Cup final against Manchester City on Wednesday thanks to their 2-1 win over Chelsea at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
