Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi dined with Jose Mourinho last week as pressure continues to grow on Unai Emery, according to a report in England.
The Times, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners are putting in the groundwork for potentially bringing in Mourinho as Emery’s replacement.
The same article states that Arsenal director of football Sanllehi met with former Manchester United boss Mourinho last week.
According to the same story, the Spanish head coach still has time to turn around the north London outfit’s ailing fortunes.
The Times go on to add that the Gunners want Emery’s replacement to have Premier League experience as well as be fluent in English.
Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw with Wolves at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon after Raul Jimenez cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener.
The Gunners have drawn their last three games in all competitions with Crystal Palace, Liverpool FC and Wolves.
The north London side are in fifth place in the Premier League table and six points adrift of bitter rivals Chelsea FC in third.
Emery was given significant funds to invest in new players in the summer transfer window.
The Arsenal manager signed six new players to overhaul the squad that he inherited from Arsene Wenger in 2018.
Emery previously managed six clubs: Paris Saint-Germain, Valencia, Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, Almeria and Lorca Deportivo.
