Insider claims Arsene Wenger has made signing 26-year-old Arsenal’s priority
Ligue 1 expert Julien Laurens reveals that Arsenal have made signing Alexandre Lacazette a "priority" this summer
Arsene Wenger has made signing Alexandre Lacazette a priority for Arsenal this summer, according to Julien Laurens.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to the north London side in the summer transfer window as Wenger looks to improve his attacking options after a disappointing 2016-17 season.
Lacazette scored 30 times in 31 games in Ligue 1 last season to continue his prolific record in the French league and attract interest from Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
However, Arsenal are thought to be the frontrunners to sign Lacazette after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed interest from the FA Cup holders last month.
Indeed, the Gunners have been regularly linked with a move to sign the 26-year-old over the past few summer transfer windows, although a deal has failed to materliase.
However, Ligue 1 expert Laurens has revealed that Wenger is serious about making Lacazette an Arsenal player this summer.
“He is the priority for Arsene Wenger who has really liked his improvement in the last season or so,” Laurens told ESPN FC.
“Before that Wenger was a bit sceptical. He was always going missing in big matches.”
Lacazette has scored 100 times in 203 appearances in Ligue 1 since breaking into the Lyon first team six seasons ago.
