Arsenal have rejected Manchester City’s £50m offer to sign Alexis Sanchez, Kaveh Solhekol has revealed.

The Gunners have been contending with relentless speculation surrounding the Chile international throughout the summer transfer window.

The north London side have failed to agree a contract extension with Sanchez despite the 28-year-old entering the final 12 months of his current deal.

Manchester City have been regularly linked with a move to sign Sanchez as ex Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola looks to reunite with the South American.

According to The Sport Review’s exclusive report, Raheem Sterling was open to a move to Arsenal after it emerged Manchester City were willing to use the England international as a makeweight.

However, Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has ruled out Arsenal selling Sanchez despite Manchester City making a £50m bid for the former Udinese forward.

Solhekol wrote on Twitter: “Man City £50m bid for Alexis Sanchez has been rejected by Arsenal today. £50m cash bid. City did not offer any players in exchange”

Sanchez scored 24 goals in 37 games in the Premier League last season to finish as Arsenal’s leading goal-scorer.

The Chile star moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.

The north London side have signed Alexandre Lacazette in a £52m club-record deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Arsenal have also brought in Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
