Pundit makes confident Arsenal transfer prediction about striker
Steve Nicol doesn't expect Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to complete a move to Bayern Munich this summer
Steve Nicol doesn’t expect Alexis Sanchez to move to Bayern Munich this summer.
The Arsenal forward has been heavily linked with a switch to the Bundesliga champions after failing to agree a new long-term contract with the north London side last term.
Indeed, the Gunners are facing the prospect of losing Sanchez on a free transfer next summer with 12 months remaining on the Chile international’s current contract.
Premier League champions Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a move to sign the former Barcelona man, although the 28-year-old looks more likely to move to Germany.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are thought to be keen on the Chile star, with his compatriot Arturo Vidal already on important player for the German side.
However, former Liverpool defender Nicol believes a move to Bayern could have complications for Sanchez given his inflated wage demands.
“Sanchez would blow their wage structure through the roof,” Nicol told ESPN FC.
“It could cause unrest. I’m not sure this will happen. Sanchez might have to look somewhere else.”
Sanchez won his second FA Cup in three seasons after the forward scored in a 2-1 win against Premier League champions Chelsea in the final at Wembley last month.
The South American forward moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from La Liga side Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
