Pundit explains why Arsene Wenger must complete swift Arsenal transfer deals
Arsene Wenger needs to build momentum at Arsenal with some swift transfer deals, according to Craig Burley
Craig Burley has urged Arsene Wenger to get his Arsenal signings completed early in the summer transfer window to build momentum at The Emirates.
The French boss endured a controversial 2016-17 season after Arsenal saw their Premier League title challenge unravel following a run of four successive defeats on the road in February and March.
Arsenal suffered a humiliating 10-2 loss to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 to crash out of the competition at the same stage for the seventh successive season.
The north London side will compete in the Europa League next season after missing out on a top-four place and subsequent qualification for the Champions League.
Arsenal have only signed Bosnia defender Sead Kolasinac in the summer transfer window so far after the left-back agreed to move on a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
The Gunners have been linked with a potential move to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe but a move has failed to materialise.
Former Chelsea defender Burley has challenged the FA Cup winners to get their deals over the line early on to avoid a repeat of last summer.
“It’s been all talk and they’ve got right down to the last few weeks of the transfer window and they’re scrambling to get signings over the line,” Burnley told ESPN FC.
“If Arsenal are going to business, they need to try and do it early to give fans some hope heading into the season.”
Arsenal won their third FA Cup crown in four seasons thanks to a 2-1 win against Premier League champions Chelsea in the final.
