Granit Xhaka tells Alexis Sanchez to make this decision about Arsenal future
Granit Xhaka wants Arsenal to keep Alexis Sanchez amid interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich
Granit Xhaka has urged Alexis Sanchez to stay at Arsenal.
The Chile international’s future has been a source of relentless debate and speculation over the past six months or so after the forward failed to agree a contract extension with the Gunners.
Sanchez has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal with the north London side which has opened up the possibility of the South American leaving on a free transfer next summer.
Arsenal would surely be loathe to lose their prized asset for nothing next summer, which could force Arsenal to accept an offer for Sanchez this summer unless a new contract can be agreed.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 28-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.
Indeed, Sanchez’s Chile team-mate Arturo Vidal has encouraged Sanchez to make a big-money switch to the Bundesliga champions.
Arsenal midfielder Xhaka, who moved to The Emirates in a £35m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer, pleaded with Sanchez to stick with the Gunners.
“I hope [he doesn’t leave], of course,” Xhaka told Bild, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“He has qualities on the pitch which are incomprehensible.
“He has made many goals, and is also enormously important outside the box.”
Sanchez finished as Arsenal’s leading goal-scorer last term after an impressive return of 24 goals in 38 games.
