Arsenal have ’30 per cent’ chance of signing 23-year-old attacker, claims journalist
Arsenal have a 30 per cent chance of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Julian Draxler this summer, according to David Amoyal
Arsenal have a “30 per cent” chance of signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Julian Draxler, David Amoyal has revealed.
The Gunners are facing a battle to keep two of their prized assets beyond the summer transfer window.
Alexis Sanchez is being heavily linked with a £50m move to Arsenal’s direct title rivals Manchester City.
Chelsea and Liverpool are in a battle to sign England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal.
The north London side have been linked with a potential move to sign Draxler should Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain leave The Emirates.
The Germany international has been regularly linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old over the past couple of seasons.
However, Draxler opted to move to Ligue 1 giants PSG ahead of a switch to the Premier League in the January transfer window.
But Neymar’s world-record £198m move to PSG from Barcelona earlier this month to push Draxler further down the pecking order.
ESPN reporter Amoyal has warned Arsenal supporters that Draxler will attract interest from the Bundesliga and the north London side’s Premier League title rivals.
“After a half season in France, the 23-year-old German international could be on the move again after all the additions made to Paris Saint-Germain’s frontline,” Amoyal wrote in his ESPN column.
“The Gunners have been interested in Draxler dating back to his time at Schalke, and with Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain potentially leaving, they would have significant resources to reinvest.
“Arsenal will likely face competition from German and English clubs for Draxler, whose departure could help PSG start to balance their books for financial fair play.”
Arsenal signed France international Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon last month.
The Gunners have signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Schalke 04.
