Robert Pires is hoping that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez opt to remain at Arsenal beyond the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are thought to be facing a battle to keep hold of their two star players ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Both Ozil and Sanchez failed to negotiation contract extensions with the north London club last term to leave their respective futures up in the air.
Indeed, the Arsenal duo both have less than 12 months remaining on their current deals to spark interest from potential suitors.
Sanchez has attracted a lot of interest from the Premier League and abroad after the Chile international scored 24 times in 38 games last term.
Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich are thought to be heavily interested in signing the 28-year-old to bolster their ranks.
Premier League champions Chelsea have also been linked with a move to sign the Arsenal striker in what would certainly be a contentious transfer were it to happen.
Former Arsenal legend Pires doesn’t want Arsene Wenger to lose Ozil or Sanchez as the manager prepares to build ahead of the new season.
“I hope and wish they extend their contracts because they are both very important players for stability and the quality of the team,” Pires told Sky Sports.
“We need warriors like Sanchez and we need Ozil.
“I don’t know what will happen by the end of the transfer window but I know Arsene Wenger has a lot of work to do this summer.”
