Arsene Wenger replies about Arsenal signing top 22-year-old attacker
The Arsenal manager addresses transfer speculation linking the Gunners with a move to sign Raheem Sterling

Arsene Wenger has refused to shed light on Arsenal’s possible interest in Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling.
The Gunners were linked with a potential swoop to sign the England international in the summer transfer window but a deal failed to materialise despite his agent hinting the forward would be open to a move.
Sterling’s prospective move to Arsenal appeared to hinge on Alexis Sanchez completing a controversial switch to the Eastlands outfit from the north London side in the most-recent transfer window.
Sanchez failed to secure his move to the Etihad Stadium before transfer deadline day but could still complete a switch to Manchester City having entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal.
Indeed, the Chile international could leave the Gunners for nothing next summer unless Arsenal can agree a new deal with Sanchez.
However, Manchester City would surely be reluctant to allow Sterling to leave the Etihad Stadium given his impressive start to the season.
The 22-year-old has scored seven goals and has made two assists in eight Premier League appearances, while the winger has netted three times in three Champions League outings including the fourth goal in a 4-2 win at Napoli mid-week.
Asked about Arsenal’s interest in Sterling at his pre-match media conference, Wenger said:
“I don’t want to open any speculations on that before a game like that. I believe the transfer window is closed at the moment so that is not really a subject that is really important.”
Arsenal will make the trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
