Arsene Wenger told to make quality Arsenal signings
Ray Wilkins is hoping Arsene Wenger splashes the cash on new Arsenal signings in the summer transfer window
Ray Wilkins says he hopes Arsene Wenger decides to splash the cash on a number of new signings for Arsenal this summer.
The north London side are coming to terms with the disappointment of missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League as they were condemned to Europa League football for next season.
However, the Gunners did end the season on a high by beating Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month to win the trophy for the third time in four years.
Wenger recently committed his future to the north London side by signing a new two-year contract to keep him at the club until 2019 at the earliest.
The focus in the next few weeks will inevitably be on the players Wenger could look to sign this summer.
And former Chelsea coach Wilkins admits that he hopes the Gunners spend big this summer.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday, Wilkins said: “I think Arsene will go out and I hope he spends money because I don’t like seeing someone of his stature being ridiculed as he was last year.
“He’s done a wonderful job for Arsenal and for English football, I just hope he puts the club’s money up front and buys some real stellar people.”
