AS Monaco will only sell Thomas Lemar if the Ligue 1 champions receive an offer in the region of £80m, according to reports in England.

The Sun revealed on Friday that the French club are holding out for a huge transfer fee for the exciting France international.

The same article states that the north London outfit’s opening bid of £40m was a long way short of AS Monaco’s valuation.

Indeed, the Ligue 1 giants’ asking price would represent a club-record fee for the FA Cup winners.

Arsenal made Alexandre Lacazette the most-expensive player in Gunners’ history last week following a £52m deal to sign the French striker from Lyon.

Lemar scored nine times and made 10 assists in 34 appearances in Ligue 1 last season to help AS Monaco to win the title ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners have also signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 last month.

Arsenal were 2-1 winners against Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season.

The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table.
