Guillem Balague reveals three Arsenal players spoke to Thomas Lemar above move
The Sky Sports News reporter claims that Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette all tried to persuade Thomas Lemar to move to Arsenal
Guillem Balague has revealed that Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette all went to Thomas Lemar’s bedroom in an attempt to convince their France team-mate to move to Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has been regularly linked with a move to the north London club over the past couple of months but Arsenal were thought to have given up on signing Lemar last week.
Report in England suggested that Liverpool had moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Lemar on Wednesday as Jurgen Klopp looked to further bolster his attacking options.
Arsenal appeared to reopen talks with Monaco on Thursday as the Gunners offered the Ligue 1 champions a club-record £92m fee to sign the French attacker before the 23:00 BST deadline.
However, Lemar opted against a last-minute move to Arsenal with some reports suggesting the France starlet was holding out for a move to Liverpool.
The Monaco star’s rebuttal means that Arsenal pulled out of a deal to sell Chile international Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City in a £70m deal on deadline day.
Lemar is currently on international duty with the France national team alongside Giroud, Koscielny and Lacazette.
La Liga expert Balague took to Twitter to reveal that three Arsenal players went to Lemar’s bedroom in the France camp to try and persuade the Monaco star to move to The Emirates.
Balague wrote on Twitter: “On Thomas Lemar. Player decided against move to #AFC. Lacazette, Koscielny and Giroux went to his bedroom to convince him (all with France)”
