Sid Lowe says there is some truth behind the reports linking Alexis Sanchez with a transfer to Manchester City this summer.

The Gunners forward’s situation has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months due to the fact that both he and Mesut Ozil have entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at Arsenal.

Sanchez has developed into Arsenal’s talisman in recent seasons after joining the Gunners from Barcelona back in 2014.

The Chilean scored 30 goals in all competitions last term but his future has been cast into further doubt after Arsenal missed out on qualification for the Champions League next season.

Sanchez has been touted as a possible transfer target for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in recent days as the uncertainty around his future continues.

And Spanish football insider Lowe says there are reasons to believe those reports.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Lowe said: “It started in Catalunya.

“It started with a journalist who has very good contacts with the Pep Guardiola camp.

“Guardiola has been in Catalunya over the past week. These are reasons to believe it [the transfer rumour].”

Sanchez helped Arsenal win their third FA Cup title in four seasons last month when they beat Chelsea in the final at Wembley.
