Arsenal line up £50m bid to sign top 26-year-old striker – report
Arsenal are ready to make a fresh attempt to try and sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this summer, say reports
Arsenal are considering a £50m bid to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Telegraph is reporting that the Gunners are preparing to make an “enhanced” bid for the France international as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his attacking options at The Emirates.
Lacazette has long been linked with a move to The Emirates but a switch to north London has never materialised for the 26-year-old striker.
The forward was thought to be close to joining Atletico Madrid this summer but the Spanish side’s transfer ban has prevented them from signing any new players this year.
Arsenal are expected to make another bid for Lacazette, according to the report, but their attempts to sign the striker could be affected by their lack of Champions League football next season.
Playing in Europe’s elite club competition is said to be an “important factor” to Lacazette and could still prove a stumbling block in any potential deal.
Arsenal will have to play in the Europa League next season after the Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League table.
