Insider hints 20-year-old Brazilian could emulate Thierry Henry at Arsenal
Times reporter Jonathan Northcroft explains why Bordeaux striker Malcolm would be a good signing for Arsenal

Malcolm is capable of forging a legacy at Arsenal in the same manner as Thierry Henry, according to Times reporter Jonathan Northcroft.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the Bordeaux striker in the January transfer window ahead of the potential departure of Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.
Should Chile international Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester City this month, the Gunners will have a void to fill in their attack for the remainder of the season.
The Brazil Under-23 international has established himself as Bordeaux’s marquee player over the past 12 months or so.
Indeed, Malcolm has scored seven times and has made four assists in the current season despite Bordeaux’s struggles.
Times reporter Northcroft explained why Arsenal are interested in signing the talented Brazilian forward despite his relative lack of experience.
“He sounds an Arsenal-style player. He is the kind of signing Arsenal would make from France all the time,” Northcroft told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“The sell for him would be come and do what Thierry Henry did. He could develop from potential into a world class player. It is a team that needs to renew itself. There is the chance of a player to go in there and become the man.”
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004 but have won three FA Cup crowns in four seasons.
The Gunners are facing a battle to finish in the Premier League’s top four this term.
The north London side are in sixth spot and five points behind Liverpool FC, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
Arsenal lost 4-2 to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round last weekend.
