Thierry Henry has admitted his sadness at seeing both Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud leave Arsenal last month, although he was delighted to see the Gunners bring in some quality replacements.

The north London side opted to sell Sanchez to Manchester United but managed to secure the services of Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of the deal.

Arsenal also completed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record transfer fee on deadline day as the Gunners moved quickly to bolster their squad.

Henry was pleased to see the new faces at The Emirates, including the news that Mesut Ozil is set to stay at Arsenal for the long term.

However, the Gunners legend also hinted that he was a little sad to see the likes of Giroud and Ozil leave the club in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Wednesday, Henry said: “I’m happy as an Arsenal fan that we have attracted Aubameyang and it looks like Ozil is going to stay, but we’re losing Sanchez and Giroud.

“We’ll see what those guys are going to bring to Arsenal, but it’s a great, great buy to have around Aubameyang.”

Arsenal will now look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Everton in front of their home fans at The Emirates on Saturday evening.

The north London side head into the game on the back of their disappointing 3-1 loss to Swansea City on Tuesday night.
