Reporter claims Arsenal remain ‘confident’ of signing top 28-year-old striker in £53m deal
Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie says Arsenal remain confident of completing a deal for Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Arsenal are still confident of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a £53m deal from Borussia Dortmund, according to reporter Keith Downie.
The Gunners have been linked with a sensational move to sign the prolific Dortmund striker as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez.
The Chile international appears to be on the brink of a switch to the Red Devils after Manchester City ended their interest in the 29-year-old attacker.
Sanchez scored 24 times in 38 games in the Premier League last season and his exit would leave a goal void in the Arsenal team.
Aubameyang has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga during five seasons at the Westfalenstadion.
Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp signed the African star in 2013 before the centre-forward kicked on following the German coach’s departure with 141 goals in 212 games in all competitions.
Sky Sports News reporter Downie revealed that Arsenal are still confident of getting a deal for Aubameyang over the line in the January transfer window.
“Arsenal remain optimistic of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund,” Downie told Sky Sports News on Tuesday morning.
“Arsenal are willing to spend €60m to land their man, who would be a straight replacement for Sanchez.”
Arsenal lost 2-1 to Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend despite Hector Bellerin making the breakthrough on the south coast.
The Gunners missed out on a Champions League spot last term following a fifth-placed finish behind Liverpool FC.
