Unai Emery will be given around £40m to spend in the summer transfer window on new signings, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners boss will have a limited budget this summer, although the number could increase if Arsenal manage to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The same story says that Emery will have to structure his spending this summer around a “purge” of the north London club’s large wage bill.

It is claimed in the same story that the biggest issue facing Emery is keeping contracts “under control” and that means they may have to sell players in some areas of their squad.

Arsenal are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the north London side look to strengthen their squad ahead of Emery’s second season in charge.

The Gunners have been in decent form this season and still hope to finish in the top four and win the Europa League.

The north London side – who have missed out on Champions League qualification for the last two seasons running – will take on Valencia in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash next week.
