Guillem Balague says Unai Emery is looking to “add layers” to his Arsenal team.

The Gunners boss is bound to linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window as Emery looks to revamp his squad.

Arsenal’s transfer budget could be greatly inflated if the north London side manage to beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku later this month and seal their spot in the Champions League for next season.

Emery’s side finished in fifth place in the Premier League table in the Spanish head coach’s first season in charge at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners narrowly missed out on a top-four finish after Arsenal lost three of their last four games in the Premier League.

And Spanish football expert Balague has now explained what Emery will try to do in the summer transfer window to improve his squad.

“What Unai is trying to do is add layers to the side,” Balague said on his YouTube channel.

“It will make much more sense as time goes on, because he will have the players that he wants, but he will get more training sessions for the team to do what he wants them to do.

“What does he want them to do? To be flexible, not to look always the same, to adapt a little bit to the team and to the circumstances of the rival and to the circumstances of his own team.

“That’s why he doesn’t look like he has a personality. I think he does, but the personality is flexibility, if you like.”

Arsenal signed five players in Emery’s first summer transfer window after the Spaniard inherited an underperforming squad from Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners are set to lose Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey and injury prone England international Danny Welbeck on free transfers this summer.

Emery were 7-3 winners against Spanish side Valencia over two legs in their Europa League semi-final earlier this month.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004 – and the Gunners have failed to finish in the top four in the last three Premier League seasons.
