Alex Song has played down the chances of him sealing a surprise return to Arsenal, insisting he is “very happy” at Barcelona.
The 26-year-old midfielder has struggled to hold down a spot in Barcelona’s first team since moving to the Camp Nou from Emirates Stadium in August 2012.
Song has made just five starts in all competitions for the La Liga side this season following his transfer to Spain and was linked with a switch back to Arsenal over the summer.
However, the Cameroon international insists he is happy to stay and fight for a first-team place at Barcelona.
“I was very happy to be at Arsenal, I spent seven years there,” Song told BBC Sport.
“But at the moment I’m not looking that way. I am very happy here. I have four years left on my contact.
“I don’t know what will happen in four years’ time when I finish here. But today I am very happy here.”
Song was limited to just 17 La Liga starts last season as Barcelona won the Spanish title.
He scored 10 goals and made 24 assists in 205 appearances for Arsenal between 2005 and 2012 before his £15m transfer to Barcelona.
