Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger rules out Alex Song return
Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger dismisses reports linking Alex Song with a return to the Gunners in the summer

Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports linking Alex Song with a return to Arsenal this summer despite an unhappy first season for the midfielder at Barcelona.
Speculation that the Cameroon international could be set for a summer transfer back to Emirates Stadium has been rife in recent days after the player’s cousin said that the 25-year-old is “unhappy” at Camp Nou.
Song has been limited to miserly 15 starts in all competitions for the La Liga leaders this season, with the midfielder forced to play a bit-part role at the Catalan outfit.
But Wenger insists there is no truth in the rumours suggesting that Arsenal have a buy-back clause in the Song’s contract – and the Frenchman expects him to stay on at Barcelona for at least another year.
“There is no buy-back clause,” Wenger said on Thursday. “I heard he wants to give it a go for another season. He is a quality player.”
Both Manchester City and Inter Milan have been linked with moves for Song in recent months following his disappointing debut season in Spain.
Song scored 10 goals and made 24 assists in 205 appearances for Arsenal between 2005 and 2012 before his £15m transfer to Barcelona last summer.
