Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger plays down the chances of the Gunners moving to sign Dimitar Berbatov

Arsene Wenger has played down speculation linking Arsenal with a January swoop for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Much has been made of the Gunners’ lack of attacking options following injuries to first-choice strikers Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner.

The north Londoners were linked with a £2m move for the former Tottenham and Manchester United forward on Monday.
However, Wenger has revealed that he has not considered the 32-year-old as a potential target for Arsenal this month.
“He is not a name we have considered at the moment,” Wenger told a news conference on Friday.
“I don’t want to go into specific names because that would be disrespectful to the the club where the player’s playing.
“We are considering our options at the moment and at the moment they are quite restrictive.
“We have not been out on the transfer market. We have not contacted anybody.
“We are just analysing the situation and are very cautious until we are well-informed about Bendtner and well-informed about Yaya Sanogo, who is back in training now.”
Arsenal have also been linked with a loan move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in recent weeks.
