Arsenal transfers: Barcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta insists David Villa won't be sold in January

Barcelona are not looking to sell David Villa in the January transfer window amid reported interest from Arsenal, according to the club’s director of football Andoni Zubizarreta.
The 31-year-old has only started six La Liga games for the Catalan side this term after returning from a broken leg which ruled him out for six months last season.
With his first-team opportunities at Camp Nou limited, the Spain international has been linked with a move to the Emirates outfit.
But Zubizarreta insisted Villa still has a role to play at the club as one of their prominent goal scorers, adding Barça will not consider selling any of their big-name stars next month.
“In January we will keep Villa and it is important to remember that Barcelona is a club that habitually does not accept offers for star players in Janaury,” Zubizarreta told Canal Plus.
“David is a player that brings goals and intensity to the team.
“Now he has recovered from a serious injury I believe that he is offering a good level on the field.
“It is normal that big players desire to play and this is perfect for the competition in the squad.”
