Arsenal transfers: George Graham urges Arsene Wenger to splash the cash on bringing a "special" striker to the club
George Graham has urged Arsene Wenger to break the bank to bring a “special” striker to Arsenal this summer.
Wenger’s Gunners side finally ended their nine-year wait for a major trophy thanks to Saturday’s 3-2 FA Cup final win over Hull City at Wembley.
Let’s get the special players in. Especially forward wise, they need somebody special
Olivier Giroud has been heavily relied upon to lead Arsenal’s front-line this season and former Gunners boss Graham believes that the north London side are in serious need of attacking reinforcements.
“They have built a fantastic training facility and a new stadium, which both cost a fortune, and there is no excuse now,” Graham told talkSPORT.
“They apparently have a lot of money to spend and they need to spend it very wisely and buy special players. Maybe players that are going to cost £30m, £40m, £50m, rather than taking a chance on a £10m or £12m player.
“If they have the money now, let’s get the special players in. Especially forward wise, they need somebody special.
“There are a few teams who are going to be in the hunt [for the title] next season to win it and they have got the special forwards.”
