Harry Redknapp is hoping Queens Park Rangers can keep hold of Loic Remy beyond the summer despite imminent relegation to the Championship and interest from Arsenal.

The France international has been one of the few success stories at the west London outfit this season after scoring five goals in nine Premier League appearances following a £8m move from Marseille in January.

Remy’s form for struggling QPR earned the forward a call-up to the France squad in March and alerted a host of Premier League clubs to the possibility of making a summer swoop for the Hoops’s talisman.

But Redknapp, whose side are 19th and 10 points from safety with four games remaining, is eager to keep Remy on QPR’s books in the Championship next season to help their promotion bid.

“He’s been great. He’s a player that I think could score 20 Premier League goals in a full season,” said Redknapp.

“He’s come here and played a handful of games but he is our leading goal-scorer.

“It will be difficult [to keep him]. We’d like to keep him obviously but we have to sit down and see what his plans are.”

Brazil international Júlio Cesar, who was pictured in a Chelsea shirt at David Luiz’s birthday party during the week, is another who has impressed but Redknapp insists there have been no enquiries about the goalkeeper.

“No idea. I’ve not had any enquires for him or spoke to anyone about him,” added Redknapp.

And the 66-year-old Hoops boss is optimistic the west London side can fend off interest in the players he feels can contribute to their attempts to secure an immediate return to the top flight.

“We’ll only let people go who we want to let go. The ones we want to keep, we’ll keep them,” he said. “People have got contracts.

“The silly thing about this game is that the ones you want to keep, are the ones that want to go.

“The ones you would like to let go, don’t want to go. We’ll keep the ones we want to keep for sure… We’ll see how it goes.”
