Arsenal transfers: Jack Wilshere describes Dimitar Berbatov as a "great player" amid reports linking striker with Gunners

Jack Wilshere has described Dimitar Berbatov as a “great player” amid speculation linking Arsenal with a January swoop for the Fulham striker.
The Bulgarian forward has been touted as a potential target for Arsene Wenger as the Gunners boss looks to bolster his front-line following injuries to Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner.
And although Wilshere is a keen admirer of the ex-Manchester United forward, he has backed Olivier Giroud to continue to lead the line alone if needed this season.
“He [Berbatov] is a great player,” Wilshere is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror. “He has played for Manchester United. Players who don’t have ability don’t play for Man United.
“But he is a Fulham player so I can’t talk about him. We have Olivier, who has been great for us this season. If we can keep him fit we have a chance.
“People underestimate our squad. We have a lot of talent in there. Look at the bench – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain plays for England, [Lukas] Podolski, [Thomas] Vermaelen isn’t even on there because he’s injured.
“We have to rotate sometimes and we do. Mikel Arteta comes in and I go out or to the right and that is important. If we are going to win the championship that is what we are going to have to do.”
