Arsenal transfers: Jamie Carragher critical of Luis Suárez’s behaviour

Jamie Carragher has criticised Liverpool striker Luis Suárez for his unacceptable behaviour after the Uruguayan accused the Reds of breaking “a promise”.

The 26-year-old feels he should be allowed to leave the Merseyside outfit this summer, insisting Brendan Rodgers said he could seek a move if the Reds failed to secure a top-four finish last term.

The Liverpool manager has come out and rubbished the South American’s claims as the Reds continue to fend off interest from Arsenal, who have launched two unsuccessful bids to sign the forward.

And Carragher, who played with Suárez for two seasons before retiring in May, believes his former club will be very reluctant to sell their prized asset to a top-four rival.

“Sort yourself. You can’t have that and can’t accept that,” Carragher told Sky Sports News.

“There’s ways and means of going about it. Players get transferred all the time and you can’t always have what you want.

“Liverpool Football Club have got to protect themselves as well. Arsenal are a big rival for a top-four place and maybe if he wanted to go somewhere else it wouldn’t be such a big issue and maybe Liverpool would sanction a deal.

“Nobody wants unhappy players at the training ground or on the pitch playing. It affects other people.

“But it’s very difficult for Liverpool, like the Wayne Rooney situation with Manchester United and Chelsea. They’re direct rivals and that’s the big deal. That’s the problem.”
