Arsenal transfers: Lukas Podolski reveals that he was not close to leave the north London club
Lukas Podolski has revealed that he had no offers to leave Arsenal this summer, despite the speculation surrounding his future.
The Germany international’s future at the north London club had been called into question towards the end of the summer transfer window, with Galatasaray, Napoli and Juventus all touted as possible destinations for the forward.

However, a move failed to materialise and the 29-year-old said that a “good conversation” with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger helped put him at ease about his situation at Emirates Stadium.
“A move away from Arsenal did not fall through because I had no offers to move,” Podolski told German newspaper Bild.
“There have been enquiries from other countries, also from Bundesliga clubs, but I am from Cologne and it would have been tough for me to represent any other German club.
“I had a very good conversation with the manager. He has stressed he is putting trust in me and my qualities.”
Podolski has made over 70 appearances for Arsenal since joining the Gunners from Cologne in 2012.
