Arsenal transfers: ‘Wilfried Bony will join top-six club’
Arsenal transfers: John Hartson is expecting Wilfried Bony to leave for a top-six club this summer
John Hartson is expecting Swansea striker Wilfried Bony to join a top-six Premier League club in the summer transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international has proven a big hit at Swansea City since former manager Michael Laudrup signed the striker for the Welsh outfit last summer.
And last week, Bony’s agent Dalibor Lacina rubbished speculation suggesting Bony would join Newcastle United, insisting the forward would only move to a top Premier League club.
“They could have signed him for £10m, but they said they weren’t sure if he was good enough, that he was only playing in Holland [with Vitesse]. Now he is worth £20m,” Lacina told Shields Gazette.
“The next step for Bony is a top-six team in England or a top team in Germany, Spain or France, or he will stay with Swansea.
“We have a certain strategy. Bony is in a totally different place to Newcastle and wants to move to a club with ambition. We have had no contact with Newcastle.”
The 25-year-old scored 16 goals and made four assists in 34 Premier League appearances last season, with Arsenal also rumoured to be weighing up a move for the Swans star.
And reacting somewhat belatedly to the agent’s quotes, former Swansea striker Hartson appeared resigned to losing the Ivory Coast international this summer.
Wilfred Bony saying he will only leave if a top 6 club comes in for him.. To me that means he's leaving because a top 6 club will come in.
