Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Arsenal v Liverpool FC
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Jurgen Klopp's side to play out a high-scoring draw with Arsenal on Friday night
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal and Liverpool FC to play out a high-scoring draw in their Premier League clash on Friday night.
The Merseyside outfit will make the trip to the English capital looking to extend their nine-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
The Reds haven’t lost a Premier League fixture since a 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley back in September.
However, Arsenal have won eight of their nine Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium this term to make their home stadium something of a fortress.
Indeed, Manchester United needed the heroics of David De Gea to secure a 3-1 win against Arsenal in north London earlier this month.
Liverpool FC eased to a 4-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League at Anfield back in August thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.
Former Reds defender Lawrenson is backing Arsenal and Liverpool FC to play out a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
“Arsenal will be looking at Liverpool and thinking ‘we will create chances against this lot’ – and Liverpool will be thinking exactly the same thing,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“The past four meetings between these two teams have seen lots of goals and I don’t think this one will be any different.
“So, although I am going to go for a draw like I normally do in games like this, I think it will be a high-scoring one – and probably an eventful one too.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term and a point ahead of Arsenal to secure a return to the Champions League.
The Reds are a point ahead of Arsene Wenger’s side in the table ahead of Friday night’s clash.
