‘Nervous’: Michael Owen gives his prediction for Arsenal v Wolves
Pundit Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to edge to a nervy win over Wolves at The Emirates on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to edge to a nervous win against Wolves at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners will be eager to secure a home victory following a three-game winless run in domestic competitions.
Arsenal squandered a 3-1 lead and a 4-2 lead in their Carabao Cup fourth-round to draw 5-5 with Liverpool FC after 90 minutes.
Jurgen Klopp’s side went on to progress to the quarter-finals thanks to a 5-4 victory in the penalty shootout.
Arsenal lost 1-0 to Sheffield United in their last Premier League game on the road before a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at The Emirates last weekend.
The Gunners have lost ground on the top four following the excellent form of Chelsea FC and Leicester City.
Arsenal are in fifth position and four points adrift of Chelsea FC following 10 games.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Arsenal to beat Wolves in an unconvincing victory at The Emirates on Saturday.
“Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead for the second time this season in the Premier League – also at Vicarage Road – when they were held 2-2 by Crystal Palace at the weekend and the Gunners continue to ship too many goals for a side looking to break into the top four,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Wolves travelled to Villa Park in the League Cup midweek unbeaten in nine games in all competitions, but whatever the outcome of that midlands derby I believe the Gunners will take all three points from what is likely to be a nervous Emirates Stadium.”
Arsenal made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign before the Gunners succumbed to a 3-1 loss to leaders Liverpool FC.
The north London side haven’t fully recovered since that defeat with an inconsistent run of results.
Unai Emery’s side have only managed to win four of their 10 games in the Premier League so far this term.
