‘Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey is giving Arsene Wenger a headache’
Jamie Redknapp reckons Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is giving Arsene Wenger a selection headache

Jamie Redknapp reckons Aaron Ramsey’s excellent form is giving Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a selection headache.
The 22-year-old scored a second-half brace to help the Gunners seal a 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday after Olivier Giroud’s opener had been cancelled out by Craig Gardner.
Ramsey has now scored six goals in his last eight games for both club and country as the Wales international continues to impress despite Mesut Ozil’s £42.5m move to The Emirates.
Wenger has Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla, Ozil, Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere all vying for the midfield positions in his Arsenal starting line-up.
But on current form, Redknapp believes the Gunners manager can’t justify dropping Ramsey.
“In eight games in all competitions for club and country, the delightful Aaron Ramsey has scored six goals,” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“He has hit the ground running this season and in an all-star cast in the Arsenal midfield, he has been their star turn.
“One goal at Sunderland was executed with stunning technique, the other shows he is prepared to run in behind and get beyond the front man.”
Redknapp contined: “He was everywhere on Saturday, as you can see from his pitch map above. He has recovered from a career-threatening injury and though he has not been a fans’ favourite, at 22 there is time for him to change opinions.
“With Ozil, Wilshere, Cazorla and Arteta all to compete for those midfield places when fit, Ramsey may give Arsene Wenger a selection headache he will enjoy.”
