Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger hails ‘sharper, quicker’ Wojciech Szczesny

Arsene Wenger has praised Wojciech Szczesny for his improved performances in goal for Arsenal this season.

After a dip in form towards the end of last season, the Poland international has cemented his spot as the Gunners’ number one between the posts this term.

The 23-year-old made his 100th Premier League appearance for the north Londoners on Saturday as he helped Arsenal keep a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Fulham.

And Wenger has been delighted with the shot-stopper’s displays for his side of late, hailing him as one of the Premier League’s best.

“Certainly a part of his improvement is mental because he’s more mature,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“His decision-making is cleaner, sharper, quicker. He was always a very talented boy but because he’s intelligent he learns quickly from experience.

“I’m happy that I always gave him the confidence because he’s developing very well into a very strong goalkeeper and today certainly nobody would question that he’s one of the top five goalkeepers in the Premier League.”

Szczesny has kept 10 clean sheets for Arsenal so far this season.
