Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny: We’re still confident despite Man United loss
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny insists the Gunners are still confident despite a 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford
Laurent Koscielny insists Arsenal are still confident despite a demoralising 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners had the opportunity to move five points clear of second-placed Liverpool and put 11 points between them and the defending Premier League champions at Old Trafford.
But former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie netted a 27th-minute winner to end the north London side’s nine-game unbeaten run and help United move to within five points of the leaders.
And France international Koscielny hopes the Gunners can learn their lessons from the defeat at Old Trafford ahead of a tough clash against Southampton at The Emirates following the international break.
“We are still confident. The lessons to learn are that we were too shy in the first half and we weren’t able to play our game,” Koscielny told The Sun.
“The second half was better, even if Manchester United let us have the ball.
“But we’d played a lot of games so maybe we dropped off a bit physically. Now we have 10 days off and we will have to get the fire going again at home to Southampton.”
