‘Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil outshone Man United’s new signing Juan Mata’
Arsenal's Mesut Özil outshone Manchester United's club-record signing Juan Mata on Wednesday, says Jamie Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp believes Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil won the “battle of the record signings” as the Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw by Manchester United on Wednesday.
Ozil, who has scored four goals and made eight assists in 21 Premier League games since a £42.5m move from Real Madrid last summer, made 67 passes and created seven chances in the stalemate.

Meanwhile, United’s £37.1m club-record signing Juan Mata could only muster two shots on target and could only muster one opportunity for a team-mate at Emirates Stadium.
And former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp feels Mata, who made the move to United from Chelsea, was ineffectual against the Gunners.
“It was the battle of the record signing playmakers and there was only one winner,” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column. “Mesut Ozil, Arsenal’s £42m man, outshone Juan Mata.
“Manchester United’s £37m midfielder was ineffectual, failing to get the ball in dangerous positions and create chances for his team-mates.
“Ozil, whose performance was under the microscope after a series of poor games, fared better.
“The German was involved a lot more in the final third and created far more chances for his team-mates.”
