Arsene Wenger has backed Arsenal to “put things right” when they face Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday.

The Gunners head into the clash following their 5-1 thrashing at Anfield last weekend and Wednesday’s goalless draw against Manchester United.

The fact we play against a Premier League team will help a lot

Those results left Arsenal second in the table and a point behind leaders Chelsea with 12 games left to play this season.

And Wenger insists that his side will relish the opportunity to secure a positive result against the Merseysiders in the cup at Emirates Stadium.

“The title race is very open, only Chelsea can lose it now because they are in front,” said Wenger. “You want an opportunity to put things right and we have that opportunity on Sunday.

“The results in any competition can have an influence [on the title race]. The fact we play against a Premier League team will help a lot.”

“If you declare yourself not in the title race, you cannot lose it. But I say yes, we are in it.”
