Arsene Wenger singles out Jack Wilshere for special praise after midfielder inspires Arsenal to victory at Aston Villa

Arsene Wenger claimed that Jack Wilshere is finally beginning to hit top form again for Arsenal after the midfielder impressed in Monday’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old scored the opener and set up Olivier Giroud for the Gunners’ second as the north London club sealed a win which hoisted them back to the top of the Premier League table.

And the Gunners boss was full of praise for the England international after his influential display at Villa Park.
“He has found his change of pace back, his game about that and his penetration because he’s not only a passer but he’s guy who is incisive with the ball,” said Wenger. “It’s his strengths so from that you need to be at the top of your game physically.
“You see it when you know well the players well in training. In the last games you see that he’s coming back to his best.”
The Frenchman also praised Arsenal’s spirit and resilience as they returned to the top of the Premier League table after Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all secured victories ahead of their trip to Villa Park.
“We had to give a strong response because everybody looks at you and see if you drop points because they have made their points over the weekend,” Wenger added.
“We were a bit more under pressure when you play last. You know that you’re not allowed to drop any points but you can only give one answer – and that is to win the game.”
