Arsene Wenger can see qualities of Arsenal greats in Wojciech Szczesny
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger compares Wojciech Szczesny to Jens Lehmann and David Seaman after his return to form

Arsene Wenger believes Wojciech Szczesny is showing similar qualities to Arsenal greats David Seaman and Jens Lehmann after the goalkeeper’s impressive return to form.
The 23-year-old lost his starting spot to fellow Poland international Lukasz Fabianski after a string of below-par performances, raising questions over his future The Emirates.
Wenger started Fabianski against Bayern Munich in their Champions League last-16 second-leg tie and kept faith with the 28-year-old for the following three Premier League games.
However, an injury to Fabianski restored Szczesny to the side and he has kept two clean sheets in three appearances, earning special praise for his second-half save to deny Loic Remy in Saturday’s 1-0 win at QPR.
It means Wenger now has to decide whether to stick with Szczesny or turn back to Fabianski as his first-choice shot-stopper.
And the Frenchman said: “There is a decision for me to make, another one.
“Wojciech’s save was great, it shows the importance of the goalkeeper. We needed him once against QPR and he got there.
“Remy took the shot very well and it needed a special save. Honestly, I thought it was in. It looks like Szczesny has got his confidence back.
“I must give him credit because he has responded very well [from being dropped]. When he came back into the team, he was sharper than when I left him out.
“I expected that reaction. That’s what I have seen with people like Seaman and Lehmann when I took them out of the team, they came back stronger. He has done that well, he’s in a good frame now.”
