Arsene Wenger delivers latest update on striker’s proposed transfer to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger confirms that Jamie Vardy will stay at Leicester beyond the summer transfer window

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jamie Vardy has all but turned down the chance to move to Arsenal to stay at Leicester next season.

The north London side tabled a bid in the region of £20m to try and lure the 29-year-old forward to The Emirates as Wenger moved to try and bolster his attacking options ahead of next season.

The bid triggered the release clause in his contract with the Foxes, but Vardy refused to make a decision about his future before heading out to France for Euro 2016 with England.

It had been thought that Vardy was postponing his decision until after the tournament, but Wenger has now appeared to confirm that the striker has made up his mind to stay at the King Power Stadium.

Speaking in the interview above, Wenger said: “Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know he will stay at Leicester.”
