Arsene Wenger: Jack Wilshere can thrive alongside Mesut Ozil
Arsene Wenger believes Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil are set to develop a fruitful midfielder partnership at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger believes Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil are set to develop a fruitful midfield partnership at Arsenal.
Club-record signing Ozil was unveiled to the media at Arsenal’s training base on Thursday morning and could make his Gunners debut at Sunderland on Saturday alongside Wilshere.
And Wenger feels that Ozil will slot seamlessly into the north London club’s midfield after noting a change in Wilshere’s positioning in recent months.
“In midfield, Jack Wilshere is more comfortable in deeper positions and Ozil more in a higher position, that is why I don’t think they conflict,” said Wenger.
“I didn’t always think that, but looking at Jack over the years now, he likes to come deep to take the ball and make a difference, and then give and go again.
“Ozil, though, is more behind the striker, higher up on the field.”
Meanwhile, Wenger has insisted that he is no rush to sign a new contract at Arsenal, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
“We are not in a hurry,” said Wenger. “My contract finishes in June, it is September now. That is a long way to go. There is no need to plan, I want to do well for this club.
“At the end I will sit down and think how well I did with the team I had and that will be sufficient for me to say yes or no.”
