Arsene Wenger and Theo Walcott play up Arsenal’s title chances

Arsene Wenger is convinced that Arsenal have what it takes to win the Premier League title this season after their impressive start to the new campaign.
The Gunners have won all six of their games since their shock opening-day defeat by Aston Villa and are currently a point behind league leaders Liverpool.
Wenger’s side have not lifted the top-flight trophy since their unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04 – but the Frenchman feels his side are capable of mounting a serious title push this term.
“I believe we have a chance to win the title,” said Wenger ahead of Sunday’s home clash against Stoke City. “My energy is focused on making sure we grab that chance.
“[But] it’s too early to assess who will be in the fight [for the title] and who will not be in the fight.”
Wenger’s comments come after Theo Walcott also declared his belief that the north London side are on track to push for the title this season.
“I think we’ll push on and we can definitely challenge this year, for sure,” said Walcott.
“There is so much belief in this team at the moment and I think it’s showing. We just need to make sure we get that home form going now, the away form is absolutely fantastic.”
Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-1 Champions League win at Marseille, Walcott continued: “It’s 10 successive wins away from home, someone told me in the dressing room. It’s a record. I didn’t know that until after the game.
“To be part of a team that has done that, in the amount of years that Arsenal have existed, is a great honour and a great achievement for everyone. It just shows how good and how talented these players are.”
Wenger also revealed that midfielder Mikel Arteta could be available for Sunday’s game after returning to full training on Friday.
