When is 2014 ATP World Tour Finals?

The season-ending ATP World Tour Finals takes place at the O2 Arena in London from 9-16 November 2014. The biggest indoor tennis tournament in the world has been hosted in London since 2009.

Who’s playing?

Novak Djokovic, who is the defending singles champion after winning the 2013 event, has already qualified for this year’s tournament. Rafael Nadal is the only other singles player to have guaranteed his participation at the 2014 tournament. The duo were joined by Roger Federer, David Ferrer, Juan Martin del Potro, Tomas Berdych, Stan Wawrinka and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the 2013 tournament, as Andy Murray missed out due to injury.

What is the tournament format?

The ATP World Tour Finals uses a round-robin format, with each participant playing three matches as they compete for a place in the knockout semi-finals and beyond. All singles matches are the best of three tie-break sets, including the final. Each day is split into an afternoon and evening session, apart from the final day. The afternoon sessions begin at 12:00GMT, with the evening sessions starting at 18:00GMT.

How much is the prize money?

The event offers one of the biggest paydays in tennis, with $1.92m (£1.1m) awarded to an undefeated singles champion. Singles players earn $142,000 (£82,900) for each round-robin win and $445,000 (£259,700) for a semi-final victory. The winner of the final will pocket $910,000 (£531,000). The total prize money for the event is $6m (£3.5m).

The O2 has 2,200 parking spaces for visitors. The nearest tube station is North Greenwich on the Jubilee line. Thames Clippers runs The O2 River Bus Service during the event from the London Eye Pier every 30 minutes, while the Emirates Air Line travels from Royal Victoria to North Greenwich.
