Aubameyang outlines Arsenal’s targets amid title challenge talk
Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang outlines the north London side's targets for the season

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says Arsenal need to finish in the top four this season, adding that the Gunners are ready to match the title challengers.
The Gabon international has made a brilliant start to the 2019-20 Premier League season following back-to-back goals in successive top-flight fixtures.
Aubameyang scored a second-half winner in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon after Ashley Barnes cancelled out Alexandre Lacazette’s opening goal.
The Arsenal striker scored the only goal in the north London side’s 1-0 win at Newcastle United in the opening round of Premier League fixtures this season.
Aubameyang finished as the joint top scorer in the Premier League last season with 22 goals alongside Liverpool FC duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Arsenal finished in fifth spot despite Aubameyang’s efforts, while Mane and Salah fired Liverpool FC to a sustained title challenge.
Although Aubameyang has emphasised that securing a return to the Champions League is the north London side’s priority this season, the Arsenal star isn’t ruling out a potential title bid.
“I think as I said earlier we have made good signings, that will help us,” Aubameyang told Canal Plus, as quoted by Metro.
“Last season, we were not far away from qualifying for the Champions’ League.
“Whatever happens, that is the most important thing, the most important aim for us. To be back in the Champions’ League.
“Aside from that, to fight for the title, we know very well that the big guns are ready but we are also ready and in any case we are going to give our all to match the big guns if possible.”
Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 and haven’t finished in the top four since 2016-17.
