England v Australia: Alastair Cook hints that he could quit as captain after their one-day series loss on Sunday
Alastair Cook has hinted that he could quit as England captain after Australia won the one-day international series on Sunday.
The Aussies continued their dominance following on from a 5-0 Ashes whitewash after securing a 3-0 lead thanks to a seven-wicket victory in Sydney.

England posted 243-9, with Eoin Morgan smashing 54 runs off 58 balls, but David Warner and Shaun Marsh both hit 71 as the Aussies took an unassailable lead in the series.
Cook’s men still have two ODIs and three T20s left to play in Australia, but the despondent England skipper hinted that he could quit his role following eight successive losses to the hosts across all formats.
“I think English cricket needs a little bit of a change,” Cook said.
“We’ll talk over a lot of things. I think there will be some changes. We have kept losing games of cricket and I haven’t been able to turn it around.”
He added: “I’ve got to make decisions at certain times, I can’t answer that question now because we’re in the middle of the series. And I don’t know what I’m going to feel like when I get home.
“I’ve got a job to try and turn this around – try and win one of these games. That’s the task at hand.
“I’m competitive. I want to leave everything out on the pitch. We’ll deserve the stick we get because we haven’t won games of cricket. Simple deal.”
