Australian Open 2015: Serena Williams joins Venus in round four
Serena and Venus Williams are both through to the fourth round of the Australian Open in Melbourne
Serena Williams came from a set down to beat Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina and book her place in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
The top seed and world No1 triumphed 4-6 6-2 6-0 to secure her spot in the next round along with her sister Venus, who overcame Italy’s Camila Giorgi 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-1.
“It feels good. It means a lot,” said Serena after her victory.
“I’m still trying to get past the fourth round, so we’ll see. One match at a time.”
Venus, meanwhile, who is into the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time since Wimbledon four years ago, vowed to keep improving.
“I do my best every single day,” said Venus, who faces sixth seed Agnieszka Radwanska next.
“That’s pretty much the way it goes. I think just not being afraid is the most important thing.
“I like to win titles, whether it’s a smaller event or a big event. That’s what I play for. So, yes, great, it’s great to be in the second week. But is the fourth round my goal when I come to these tournaments? No.”
