Barcelona 1 Real Madrid 3: Ronaldo is best in the world, declares Ramos
Barcelona 1 Real Madrid 3 (agg: 2-4): Sergio Ramos hails Cristiano Ronaldo's display after forward's double helps sink the holders
Sergio Ramos left the Camp Nou pitch a very happy man after helping Real Madrid to a 3-1 win over Barcelona which sealed their place in the final of the Copa del Rey.
“We leave here with the feeling that we have done a very good job,” Ramos told Canal Plus after the 4-2 aggregate win.
“Our strategy was perfect. You always suffer when you play Barcelona because they always look for space and make things difficult for you, but we have worked very well.”
Ramos was particularly positive about Madrid’s performance in attack, adding: “Tonight was the right time to take our chances and we did that tonight.”
The defender also praised his partner in central defence, Raphael Varane, the scorer of Madrid’s third goal, saying: “You have to give young players like him a chance, that’s vital.”
And he had some special words of recognition for the performance of Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I have always said that he is the best player in the world and he always turns up in big games like this,” he said.
