Barcelona ‘on verge’ of signing Sevilla midfielder Adriano

Barcelona are on the verge of signing Brazilian midfielder Adriano from Sevilla, according a report in the Spanish media.
The 26-year-old is expected to cost the Catalan club around €10 million and will mark the first purchase for newly-appointed Barcelona president Sandro Rosell.
Adriano is equally capable of playing in the centre of midfield, on the wing or as a full back. The ambidextrous Brazilian made 210 appearances at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, scoring on 19 occasions.
El Mundo Deportivo reports that a deal between the two clubs had been agreed in principal since last Thursday.
The Catalonia-based newspaper has now announced that the final details have been agreed with the transfer set to be announced within the next two days.
The versatile Adriano has been selected to represent Brazil eight times. He was a member of the squad which won the Copa America in 2004.
He will join new signing David Villa at the Camp Nou with speculation still rife that Catalan club are keen to sign Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal.
However, debt left by former Barcelona president Joan Laporta may force the club into selling before reinvesting further in playing staff.
